Frequently Asked Questions

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractors are specialists in dealing with neuromusculoskeletal disorders such as neck and back pain, headaches, posture issues, sports injuries etc. Based on the professional assessment, Chiropractic adjustments are performed to release joint tension, facilitate nerve conductions and improve body function.

What do Malaga Chiropractors treat?

We specialise in spinal conditions, but in Malaga Chiropractic we also work with the following conditions:

By covering the entire musculoskeletal system, we aim to alleviate pain, enhance overall mobility and function, and promote optimal wellness in our patients. Our holistic approach underscores the versatility and effectiveness of chiropractic care in managing a diverse range of neuromusculoskeletal conditions.

What are Chiropractic adjustments?

Adjustments can be performed variously, one of the most common methods is through a high-velocity low amplitude (HVLA) manual thrust to the joint, a “cavitation” - popping sound resulting from the release and popping of gas bubbles from the joint fluid may be heard.

Other methods like drop pieces, activators, and Pro-Arthrostim®  adjusting tools are also commonly used. All these methods facilitate joint movements to restore motion, which shuts the pain gate, in turn reducing pain sensation.

Can I have my problem fixed in a single session?

In most cases, it will require multiple sessions to achieve an ongoing benefit.

After the initial consultation, your chiropractor will give you a brief idea of the nature of your condition and the estimated time required to improve your health.  Based on the information provided on the first visit, a personalised treatment plan will be formulated. Please refer to the following flow chart that explains the process of Chiropractic Care.

How many times do I need to come to get better?

It depends on your condition. Your Chiropractor will discuss your case with you on the first or second visit depending on the complexity of your condition. Some conditions may only need a few treatments, whereas some chronic conditions may require at least 2-3 months of treatment to get satisfactory improvements.

Do I need a referral letter to see a Chiropractor ?

No, a referral is not required to visit a Chiropractor.

If you have a chronic back/ neck condition that you have been consulting your regular GP, you may be eligible for having Chronic-disease-management plan from your GP to get some Medicare-sponsored Chiropractic Sessions.

Do I need an X-ray before seeing a Chiropractor?

X-ray is not considered as a routine part of our practice here in Malaga Chiropractic. We may refer you for an X ray if we have some clinical suspicions of any potential bone damage, dislocations or spinal alignment changes that contributed to your conditions, that need to be confirmed or ruled out by X ray studies.

Can I bring my kids here for Chiropractic care?

Definitely! We treat children and teens too.

A research study found out that 98% of the parents/ their child reported an improvement after Chiropractic Care (with around 50% of muscular/joint-related problems). Most researches support that Chiropractic care could improve moods, and sleeping and enhance cognitive changes by restoring biomechanical and musculoskeletal balance in Children.
